Tigers are the traditional Korean protector. They are part tiger, part leopard, and often contain human features, too. Throughout the centuries, many different style tigers have been painted. Most of the time the tiger is paired with the mocking bird, to illustrate an old folk tail. I am fascinated with this mythical beast and painted twelve tigers taken from different historical paintings. These are painted in oil on tiles, but while not traditional in material, they are true to the original artist painting and intent. The tiles are mounted on suede and framed. If you look, you can see twelve different human personality types represented here. What do you think they are?
