Michael S. Fenton's Art

Comments

I studied with a Korean Master painter for almost five years to learn this ancient artform. Minhwa is a folk art, optimistic and story telling in nature. Korean water color paint is similar to guache, and is usually painted on silk or rice paper. Colors are never used in their pure form. Even white and black is a mixture of 4 to 8 colors. This is a very laborious form of painting. The Guardians of East and West took 7 months, 5 hours a day, to complete. I actually had a version of post partum depresssion when I finished. All Minhwa is filled with symbolism and humor.

Art makes the world a better place.
